When we think back on events and memories from our past- there is often an association to food! When we were happy, we celebrated by eating. When we were sad, we consoled ourselves with comfort food. Many adults remain motivated to eat based on their emotional state, rather than the physical need for food. Every spiritual tradition encourages people to fast so that they take time away from depending on earthly food and can refocus their awareness on the divine source of their living food.
